Winter Freezes Grand Rapids Murders

Winter Freezes Grand Rapids Murders
Posted Wednesday, March 12th 2014 @ 4am  by WOOD Radio News Team

Nobody has been murdered in Grand Rapids since Halloween, which the police say is a direct result of our long, cold winter.

The same lack of criminal behaviors have been noticed in other cities across the country.

Lieutenant Pat Merrill tells WOOD TV that there is a noticeable difference in their work loads between what he called the "summer city" and the "winter city."

While the murder rate is down, he does notice domestic violence is up somewhat which he attributes to cabin fever.
