Whitecaps Promise an Improved Ballpark by Opening Day

The first base concourse needed to rebuilt at Fifth Third Ballpark after the devastating fire in January, and the suite level, as well, but the Whitecaps say they also are making several improvements.

Opening Day is April 8th and fans will see the first base structure entirely enclosed, with a larger main concessions stand there.  Restrooms and a newly located, and much larger souvenir shop also will be ready in the home plate section where the administrative offices used to be.

The Whitecaps VP of Sales, Steve McCarthy tells WOOD Radio the Opening Day was "Never In Doubt", as the billboards say, but the next big target is June 17th, when the Whitecaps host the Midwest League's 50th All-Star Classic.  McCarthy says all the suites and the ice cream area should be open.

"That's still a very tall order," he said, "but we will be ready."
