The U.S. Open for Table Tennis begins today in Grand Rapids.  This is the third year the city has hosted US Open.  The competition invites table tennis players from around the world, including former Olympians.  Participants from 21 countries will compete on more than 100 tables for prize money of $65,000.

Mike Guswiler, president of the West Michigan Sports Commission told WOOD Radio the tournament will feature players of various ages and skills.  "It's very interesting to see young up-and-comers play someone who's been playing the sport for decades," he said.

The U.S. Open is July 1-5 at DeVos Place.  You can buy a one day pass to the tournament or a five-day pass.  Single tickets start at just $10 and children 12 and under are free.  For more schedule and ticket information, click here.
