State grants, a local government's agreement and The Right Place, Incorporated's Ionia County Economic Alliance mean investments in workers and equipment in the region.

The Grand Rapids based economic development program announced today that AvaSure, a Belmont based medical equipment company is planning 110 new jobs.  There's a state grant package with local tax abatements as the company creating training materials for the nursing industry expands into the former Kimberly-Clark and Belmont Engineered Plastics site. That's in the 5800 block of Safety NE.

Steel 21 will invest $4,500,000 in their Algoma Township plant, which will employ 31 workers when complete and expand to a staff of 61. A local Public Act 198 tax abatement's been approved. The plant will be built on a 60 acre site on 12 Mile Road.

There's no specific job gain at the moment, though the ICEA says Belding Tool and Machine will invest $405,000 in new equipment as the company transitions under new ownership.
