Northwestern Michigan College to Have Board Meetings Recorded on Video
Posted Tuesday, January 28th 2014 @ 8am  by The Associated Press

The Northwestern Michigan College board has voted to request a new policy that would require video recordings of its meetings.

The recordings would be available online. The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports  that Monday's vote went against the opinion of the policy committee, which recommended against making recordings of meetings after many years of relying on written notes.

The college board currently doesn't use audio or video recordings. The board has discussed recording its meetings several times in the past.

Board members considered recording meetings after the college spent around $80,000 on a failed August special election on funding. School officials said they couldn't remember whether putting the issue on the regular November ballot at no cost had been discussed at an April meeting.
