Muskegon Heights Schools Need New Manager

Muskegon Heights Schools Need New Manager

If the Muskegon Heights school district can’t find a new private management company, it may have to be dissolved.

But the ISD Superintendent, Dave Sipka, is confident that a new company can be found before July.

He told WOOD TV that a lot of the fix-up for the crumbling Muskegon Heights school district was accomplished by the Mosaica company, even if it is getting out of its contract early.

Mosaica said it was $2 million out of pocket, because the school district was not keeping up payments.

Sipka expects twice as many companies will bid on the Muskegon Heights management contract this time around, so they can avoid the headaches and social problems involved in closing the Heights schools and farming students out to Mona Shores or Muskegon schools.
