MSDHA Director Woosley stands down

Following a damning report from the Detroit Free Press, Scott Woosley said Friday he's resigned his post at the head of the MSHDA.

“It is with great regret that I am resigning today as the executive director of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and as Chief Executive Officer of the Michigan Community Development Corporation," he said in a statement.

A Thursday report in the Detroit Free Press said the director of the state's housing authority piled up tens of thousands of dollars in expenses since he took office in 2012.

The report says Woosley's tab includes $400-per-night hotel visits, among other expenses.

Democratic house leaders said in response they were pleased with Woosley's decision to stand down, but called for a formal investigation into the expenses.

Woosley said he was leaving the MSHDA in good hands.

"I don’t want recent news reports to be a distraction from the transformative work that is happening at MSHDA and across the state," he said.
