Michigan State Police will welcome 82 new troopers this week following the graduation ceremony on Friday in Lansing of the 126th Trooper Recruit School.

The ceremony will be held at the Lansing Center, and the keynote speaker will be Governor Rick Snyder.

The troopers will be sworn in by Col. Kriste Kibbe Etue, director of the Michigan State Police. Upon graduation the new troopers will prepare for their first post assignments.

As of May 10th, there were 909 State Police Troopers in Michigan.

The Michigan State Police department was created in 1917.

The training school is an intensive twenty-week program, held at the MSP Training Academy in Lansing.
