Is There An Upside To Being Overweight

Overall health is compromised when a person is obese however a University of Michigan researcher says that being overweight helps patients fight infection.

Dr. Hallie Prescott says that her study indicates obese sepsis patients actually have lower mortality rates than normal weight patients. In drawing their conclusion U of M researchers studied more than 14-hundred patients, both obese and normal weight, who were hospitalized with sepsis.

Sepsis is a leading cause of death in American hospitals, killing more than 250-thousand patients each year.
