Most Michigan voters give Governor Rick Snyder a negative rating for his record on K-12 education, according to a new poll.

The survey commissioned by Gongwer News Service was conducted by Lansing-based EPIC/MRA.

It found when voters were asked to rate Snyder's handling of K-12 education just 26 percent gave him a positive rating while 62 percent gave him a negative rating.

It also found, when asked whether, in the past three years, the financial condition of their local public school district has caused the quality of the education it provides to improve, get worse or remain about the same, 45 percent said it remained about the same, 35 percent said it got worse and 8 percent said it improved.

The survey of 600 likely voters was conducted February 5-11. The margin of error was plus or minus.
