House mulls wolf hunts

Initiatives planned for the November ballot could be pointless if House leaders decide to pass legislation permitting wolf hunts.

Senate leaders passed a measure supported by hunting and outdoor advocates who gathered enough signatures to raise the issue. House leaders met Wednesday in Lansing to consider legislation that would appoint the state Natural Resources Commission to determine whether or not to schedule a hunt.

House Speaker Jase Bolger said he wasn't sure if leaders would actually schedule a vote for the initiative, but the measure itself was on the schedule for Wednesday.

If passed, the legislation would make pointless two measures on wolf hunts on the ballot in November.
