Here Is Why Anyone Would Golf 36 Hours Non-Stop

Posted Sunday, June 8th 2014 @ 7am  by Chuck LaTour, WOOD Radio

Mel Trotter’s Golf Marathon of Hope is today at Railside Golf Club in Byron Center.

The 18-hole event, which offers an 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. tee time, raises money for the women and children’s program at Mel Trotter Ministries.

Alongside Mel Trotter Ministries 18th Annual Golf Marathon of Hope, Jim Bultema, PGA Pro and general manager of Railside Golf Club, will be golfing in support of MTM for 36 consecutive hours.   Jim will golf approximately 180 holes of golf over the course of 2 days.

Mel Trotter spokesperson Cindy Longyne tells WOOD Radio "The face of homelessness is changing. We now see women and children being the most common family unit to visit a rescue mission. Over 2,200 students are homeless in the Kent County area. At Mel Trotter alone, the number of women and children we have helped in the last year has increased by 11%. Mel Trotter Ministries sheltered and cared for 23 more families with children this year than the previous."
