Former Tiger Pitcher's Court Date Moved Back

A judge has granted Detroit Tigers minor league pitcher Evan Reed's request to postpone a hearing on a sexual assault charge against him until late August.

Reed is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a downtown Detroit hotel. He's charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

A lawyer for the 28-year-old requested a delay in next Tuesday's probable cause hearing, and District Judge Kenneth King now will hold it Aug. 21.

Reed appeared in 27 games for the Tigers before being assigned to the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says Reed had sex with a 45-year-old woman he met at a bar March 30. Worthy says the woman was incapacitated after drinking and unable to give consent.

Reed's lawyer says the sex was consensual.
