Fewer Fish, More Money For Michigan Commercial Fishers

Commercial anglers in Michigan took fewer fish in 2013, but made more money from their catch.

The Department of Natural Resources says commercial fishing took 3.6 million pounds of fish during the year, down 150,000 pounds from the prior year.

But that was worth $5.53 million, up $1.44 million from the prior year.

Much of the value increase, officials said, was the result of an increase in the wholesale price of whitefish
