Clean-up continues after Sunday's tornado

Posted Tuesday, July 8th 2014 @ 3pm

Some residents are without power and tree limbs are still falling more than 24 hours after a weekend tornado, the City of Wyoming said Tuesday.

An EF-1 tornado struck the area late Sunday with little warning. Forecasters say the storm was on the ground for about 10 minutes.

The City of Wyoming said Tuesday repair and restoration efforts were under way. Parts of the area damaged by the storm are considered hazardous.

"Power and communication lines and damaged tree limbs continue to fall and other storm debris still block some streets," the city said in a statement Tuesday.

The city said it was calling on non-residents or people without an immediate need to access their homes to stay away for the time being.

Crews are busy working on clearing the area of debris. More than 150 people in the city are still without power, though the city says power should be restored by Tuesday evening.
