Charges Filed in 2012 Muskegon Murder Case

Muskegon Police Department Detectives are pursuing two open murder warrants in connection to the death of Deonte E. Billups that occurred in November 2012 in Muskegon.

Demario Marcellis Buchanan, 30, has been charged with one count of open murder and one count felony firearm and another one count lying to the police in a violent crime investigation and felon in possession of a firearm. If convicted the counts carry maximum penalties of life in prison, 2 years, 4 years and 5 years respectively.

Quazala Dwayne Porchia, 24, has also been charged with one count of open murder, a second count of felony firearm, and a third count of lying to the police in a violent crime investigation.

In a statement from the Muskegon Police Department, "The filing of these charges represents an important step towards achieving justice for the victim and his family."
