Break In A Newaygo County Murder Case

There has been a break in a murder cold-case in Newaygo County.

WOOD TV reports two brothers have been arrested in relation to the disappearance of Shannon Siders in 1989.

Matthew Jones, 44, of Grant, and his brother, Paul Jones, 42, of Newaygo are expected to be arraigned in Newaygo County Thursday on first-degree murder charges.

Siders’ decomposed body was discovered in October 1989 by a hunter in the Manistee National Forest.Her death was ultimately ruled a homicide, but the case went cold.

In July 2012, Siders’ body was exhumed from the Newaygo City Cemetery.

Investigators are not divulging what evidence they have on the Jones brothers in connection to Siders’ murder.
