Michigan's Department of Corrections says, now that escaped killer Michael Elliot is back behind bars, it wants to find out just how he got out of the Ionia Corrections Facility.    Elliot had been serving four life sentences for murder when he got out while much of America watched the Superbowl.

A former guard from that prison tells WOOD TV that he does not understand how the man got through the prison yard, past a guard shack, over a fence wired with a motion-detector, and through what should have been  a heavily-guarded "sally port" exit.

Aaron Cobb says the system appeared not to be working that night.

And, he said the  “million-dollar question” is how Elliot got his hands on a box cutter, which he used to carjack that ride to Indiana.
