The Detroit Tigers dropped their fourth straight game last night falling to Toronto (8-2) last night at Comerica Park.  Miguel Cabrera and Ian Kinsler each had solo home runs, but Rick Porcello suffered his third loss of the season, giving up three runs on six hits while striking out three in seven innings.  Justin Verlander goes to the hill for Detroit this afternoon in the series finale against J.A. Happ of Toronto...first pitch is 1:08pm.  In other Tigers news, shortstop Eugenio Suarez was called up before yesterday's game and designated infielder Danny Worth for assignment.  This coming as a result of the team announcing yesterday that starting shortstop Jose Iglesias will miss the remainder of the 2014 season as he continues to recover from stress fractures in both shins. 

Lions rookie LB Kyle Van Noy has now officially signed on the dotted line.  The second round draft pick out of Brigham Young signed a four-year deal reportedly worth just over $5 million dollars yesterday.  Eric Ebron, Detroit's first round pick, is the only one of the Lions eight draft selections still left unsigned. 

Grand Rapids Griffins head coach Jeff Blashill has agreed to a new three-year contract with the Red Wings AHL affiliate.  Detroit GM Ken Holland announced the signing yesterday, saying Blashill is an important person in the organization.  Holland is also looking to sign Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock to a new deal this summer.  Babcock has one year left on his current contract. 

The West Michigan Whitecaps will be well-represented when the 50th. Annual Midwest League All-Star Classic comes to Fifth-Third Ballpark on Tuesday, June 17th.  Six members of the Whitecaps have been named to the Eastern Division roster, who will be guided by the Caps field staff consisting of manager Andrew Graham, pitching coach Mike Henneman and hitting coach Nelson Santovenia.  Representing the host city are starting pitchers Austin Kubitza, Jonathan Crawford and Buck Farmer, relief pitcher Joe Mantiply, second baseman Javier Betancourt and outfielder Wynton Bernard.  The Caps were victorious last night over Great Lakes (4-1) at Fifth-Third Ballpark....Game #2 of the series is tonight - 7pm. 

And finally, don't forget to tune in to Game #1 of the NBA Finals tonight as San Antonio hosts Miami.  Pregame coverage begins at 8pm this evening with tip-off scheduled for 9pm right here on ESPN 96.1.
