Last night Nik Stauskas scored a team-high 24 points as #12 Michigan cruised past Illinois in Champaign (84-53).  With the victory, U-M wrapped up its first outright Big Ten regular season title since 1986.  The Wolverines now (22-7 overall, 14-3 Big Ten) will end their regular season this Saturday at the Crisler Center against Indiana University.

The Red Wings couldn't hang on last night in New Jersey and fell to the Devils (4-3).  Johan Franzen, Brendan Smith and Todd Bertuzzi lit the lamp for the Wings, who will host Colorado at the Joe tomorrow night.

In the AHL, the Grand Rapids Griffins will host the Chicago Wolves tonight at Van Andel Arena.  Bob Kaser will have the call with pregame coverage beginning at 6:40pm - Faceoff is scheduled for 7pm over on Newsradio WOOD 1300 & 106.9 FM.

The Tigers lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates (5-2) yesterday in Lakeland.  Starting pitcher Rick Porcello was tagged with the loss, giving up three runs on five hits in three innings of work.  Detroit will take on Houston this afternoon in Kissimmee...first pitch is 1:05pm.  Also, Tigers left fielder Andy Dirks will have back surgery next Monday and will be out of the lineup for about 12 weeks.  Dirks, who has been dealing with back soreness since high school, decided to have the procedure after visiting a specialist yesterday.

And finally, the Wendy's Road to the Breslin Center continues tonight with a Class B District Semifinal in Boys Basketball as #1 Godwin Heights (21-0) squares off with #3 South Christian (19-1).  Bret Bakita and John Kenyon will have pregame coverage from Kelloggsville Middle School starting at 5:45pm...Tip-off is set for 6pm right here on ESPN 96.1 and streaming worldwide on the web at Prepsmi.com.
